Mayura Natyalayam Bharatanatyam Academy was founded by Prithika Kamalesan, a certified Bharatanatyam dance teacher. She has been learning Bharatanatyam for over 16 years and succesfully completed her Arangetram at City Playhouse Theatre in Toronto. She is a disciple of Kalaimanram Academy of Fine Arts, Canada, and has graduated with a Teacher’s Diploma. Post graduation, she began teaching students overseas, through online classes for youth through a non-profit organization in India.

Over the years, through numerous performances, productions, and classes, she has developed discipline, creativity, and a true love for this tradition. In recognition of her artistic dedication, teaching excellence, and contributions to classical dance, she was awarded the prestigious "Niruththa Niraignar" Award in 2026. Prithika is dedicated to taking this beautiful art to the next generation in a structured manner, preserving its tradition while nurturing each student’s artistic growth.
